However, I disagree with his conclusions, so I decided to create a little T-shirt of my own — a Christian Dad’s response to Feminist Father, if you will: GOD makes the rules. I know that none of the men who date (or eventually marry) my daughters will be perfect. But I do expect them to have hearts on fire for Jesus. I want them to love my daughters with an enduring, committed, self-sacrificing love. What sort of rules or guidelines have you set for your sons and daughters when it comes to dating? Want a “Dating Rules” T-Shirt for yourself or someone you love? (Please note that the graphic is on the front of the shirt, not the back).
A Christian Father’s Rules for Dating My Daughter first appeared on All Truth is God’s Truth.
He hoped the conversation he was about to initiate would help close that gap. ” he asked, struggling to disguise the wobble he felt in his voice. Bill gripped the steering wheel and shot a glance into her eyes. Bill and his wife had talked before with Julie about God’s standards about sex, but soon she would be dating and making moral choices on her own. They were just a block from home, so gently but firmly, Bill pressed the final question: “Well then, would you mind telling me how far you intend to go? ” He stopped the car a few feet short of the driveway and feigned a look into the mailbox. If he had waited for a month, he wouldn’t have been ready for what she said. In our family the focus has not been on dating, but more on training our teens in their character and in how to develop a relationship with the opposite sex.Who would have thought that so many people would be concerned about this particular topic? Dear, sweet, innocent girl (or guy), Ministry will kill you. Most people who devoted their lives to ministry ended up being murdered. For those of you who are indeed concerned about this, here’s some of my thoughts. Now, you may not get physically killed in good ‘ole America, but you will get raked over the coals every now and again. People won’t care about what you are doing if they think you should be doing something else. Then you throw in my Italian Catholic father who raised me with good Italian values… I guess that stuff works because I didn’t do a lot of bad things because I was afraid not of the wrath of God, but my Italian father. Now that I’m the parent of two daughters it occurs to me that some of that nonsense my mother was spouting might actually make some sense. I’ll be out in my front yard building a moat and a tower to “protect” my daughters. A Southern mother raising a Yankee daughter in Michigan was difficult because there were certain rules that I expected boys to follow and Kerri was very quick to point out that things were different than when I was her age.Since I didn’t buy that theory, I insisted that she, and any boys she dated, follow my rules.
People will tell you blatantly that they don’t approve of the very thing you feel like God told you to do. You have to decide right now to do the right thing every time for the rest of your life. One decision on my part can destroy my husband’s career.
